This fall, California
State University, San Bernardino will, for the first time in its 43-year
history, offer a doctoral degree. The university's doctor of education (Ed.D.)
degree program will provide coursework in educational leadership.
Twelve candidates from
throughout San Bernardino County will make up the first cohort of students to
enter the three-year program.

national award
Cal State San

Art museum acquires "new" additions to Egyptian collection
A middle kingdom
bronze mirror, a winged scarab and a mummified falcon are among the rare
Egyptian pieces being transferred from the Schwennesen Collection to the Robert

Association
The Alumni Association welcomed
its new class of Alumni Scholars—David Anders of Corona, Taylor Baker of
Highland, and Daniel Serrano of Victorville. Each of these top students
received a $12,000 four-year merit scholarship from the Association.

and internal relations at Colgate University, has been named the new athletics
director for CSUSB.

Volleyball team ranked No. 2;
continues strong start
The Coyotes, ranked No. 2 in
the nation, defeated two perennially tough CCAA foes, both ranked in the
nation's top 25, on the road. CSUSB knocked off No. 21 UC San Diego before 700
fans in RIMAC Arena at UCSD on Friday night by a score of 3-0.

Lois
Carson '67
Lois Carson (B.A. English 1967) received the 2007
Lyndon Baines Johnson Human Services Award from the national Community Action
Partnership (CAP) in honor of her efforts to aid low-income families. Since
1980, as Riverside County’s Executive Director of CAP, Lois has been struggling
to fight poverty by focusing on education, advocacy and community development.
Active in Community Action on the
national and state levels, Lois has served as board president of both the
national Community Action Partnership and the California/Nevada Community Action
Partnership. She was one of the designers of the Community Action Partnership's
Certified Community Action Professional (CCAP) program, a professional executive
development strategy for community leaders, and served on the Steering Committee
for the Community Action Partnership's National Symposium on Poverty and
Economic Security.
Lois was honored with the CSUSB
Alumni Association's Distinguished Alumna Award in 1980.
