High winds force campus closure
Cal State San
Bernardino campus was closed last week due to damage from high winds and
wildfires. The campus re-opened for normal business on Monday, Oct. 29.

Campus awarded two major
grants
CSUSB recently landed a $1
million federal grant to help under-represented students pursue doctoral degrees
and received a multi-million dollar grant involving several agencies and universities in
the largest study of child health and development ever attempted in the U.S.

$650,000 gift to help
students from foster homes
San Bernardino residents Mark
Edwards and wife Lori Beach are including more than $650,000 in their estate
plans to the university to help students who have been foster kids remain
successful in college.

Sino-American dual degree
program underway
CSUSB is the first university
in the state to participate in a program that grants bachelor’s degrees to
students from China who study in the U.S. and then finish in China.

$2.4 million grant to help
mobilize alumni support for students
A collaborative proposal
involving the Offices of Alumni Affairs, Career Development and Service Learning
earned the campus a $2.4 million Title V grant that will engage alumni in
helping students explore, prepare for and succeed in internships and jobs of
choice.

Cal State San Bernardino's men's basketball team will play in the 2007 O'Reilly
Auto Parts CBE Classic, with first-round games to be played at Pauley Pavilion

Dan
Healy '88
Dan Healy, (B.S. physical education 1988), ΔΣΦ,
supported the 2500+ people attempting the Susan G. Komen for the Cure
Breast Cancer 3-Day Walk in Philadelphia. Dan was joined by his Dad,
Moose, cheering on the walkers including his wife, Teresa, (M.S.
education 1993), and his sister, Cheryl. Each has completed 6 journeys
of 60 miles each. Dan has completed one journey himself and has
supported 20 other events across the country. He will also support two
more walks this year in Phoenix and San Diego.

and Teresa live in Hesperia where Teresa is Assistant Superintendent of
the Barstow Unified School District and
Dan owns and operates
Jim's Tickets.
The couple’s
other enterprise is D & T Partners Network, Inc., a dietary
supplement and vitamin supplier specializing in holistic health
solutions.

Susan G.
Komen for the Cure
Breast
Cancer 3-Day is a 60-mile walk for women and men who want to make a
personal difference in the fight against breast cancer. Participants
commit to fundraising, training and dedicating an entire weekend to the
cause, traveling an average of 20 miles a day during each event.
The 2007 Breast Cancer 3-Day Series will generate millions of dollars to
fund critical breast cancer research and community outreach programs.
