University
to
break
ground
on
new
science
annex
Formal
groundbreaking
for
the
$25
million
science
annex
at
Cal
State
San
Bernardino
takes
place
Sept.
23
in
the
patio
area
of
the
Biological
Sciences
Building.
The
10
a.m.
ceremony
celebrates
the
start
of
a
project
scheduled
for
completion
in
December
of
2004.
The
annex
will
offer
35,700
square
feet
of
assignable
space,
but
its
importance
to
the
College
of
Natural
Sciences,
its
nine
departments
and
its
students
is
immeasurable,
says
John
Craig,
associate
dean
for
the
college.
“The
annex
will
provide
critically
needed
space
for
expansion
of
several
departments,”
he
explains.
In
particular,
the
chemistry
department
will
move
entirely
into
the
annex
and
the
biology
department
will
get
additional,
badly
needed
teaching
lab
space.

benefit
immensely
from
modern,
state-of-the-art
classrooms
and
labs
and
from
new,
sophisticated
scientific
instrumentation
planned
for
the
annex,

Work
begins
on
new
student
housing
complex
Construction
has
begun
and
is
expected
to
be
finished
within
a
year
on
the
newest
student
apartment
complex
at
Cal
State
San
Bernardino.
Six
new
buildings
will
accommodate
480
students,
bringing
the
total
capacity
for
on-campus
living
to
1,500.
The
complex
will
contain
four-bedroom,
four-bath;
two-bedroom,
two-bath;
and
four-bedroom,
two-bath
units,
all
with
kitchens
and
hookups
for
television
and
the
Internet.
Each
bedroom
also
will
have
its
own
telephone
connection,
and
there
will
be
laundry
rooms
and
study
rooms
on
each
floor.

need
we’re
meeting,”

Kathy
Marcelino,
assistant
director
for
business
and

services
at
CSUSB.

CBPA
announces
new
interim
Dean
Dr.
Norton
Marks,
who
has
taught
marketing
at
California
State
University,
San
Bernardino’s
College
of
Business
and
Public
Administration
since
1990,
has
been
named
the
college’s
interim
dean.
Marks
will
replace
Gordon
Patzer,
who
after
four
years
as
dean
of
the
college
is
leaving
to
become
dean
of
the
Walter
E.
Heller
College
of
Business
at
Roosevelt
University
in
Chicago,
said
CSUSB
Provost
Dr.
Louis
Fernandez.
“Dr.
Marks’
reputation
for
excellence
in
teaching
and
his
dedication
to
his
students
are
well
known
throughout
the
campus
and
in
the
business
community.
He
brings
a
wealth
of
experience
and
knowledge
to
this
position,”
Fernandez
said.
“I
think
he
is
just
the
person
to
lead
our
College
of
Business
and
Public
Administration
through
this
transition.
