Dave Stockton Coyote Classic tees off Nov. 10

The eighth annual Dave Stockton Coyote Classic Golf Tournament, conducted each year to raise funds for student-athlete scholarships at Cal State San Bernardino, has been scheduled for Monday, Nov. 10, at PGA of Southern California at Oak Valley in Beaumont.  This will be the tournament's second visit to the course where participants will play the challenging 6,800-yard, par-72 Champions course.

"It's a great course and a great tournament," said Stockton, the San Bernardino native and Redlands resident who has earned more than $11 million on the professional golf tour in his career and ranks fourth on the senior tour's all-time money earnings list.  The seven previous Classics have raised well over $300,000 that goes directly to the CSUSB athletic scholarship fund.

Anthropology Museum shows community "Before Cal State"

Cal State San Bernardino’s newest museum currently is showing its inaugural exhibit that takes a look at what the area was like before the university came into being.

The Anthropology Museum, housed on the third floor of the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences building and across from the Robert V. Fullerton Art Museum, celebrated its official opening in the spring and is currently showing “Before Cal State.” The collection examines the history of the communities that surround the campus, which opened to students in 1965.

Designed by anthropology Professor Russell Barber, with help from students and alumni, the exhibit explores the past human occupation and the use of the land that currently houses Cal State San Bernardino. The exhibit features artifacts from the one-room Fairview School house and examines the history of the Native Americans who lived in the area. The display also has information about local water control and agriculture land development....read the complete story.

Theatre Arts Dept. founder in the spotlight

Dr. Ron Barnes, professor emeritus, will be recognized for his years of teaching and leadership role in developing Cal State’s theatre arts program, at a ceremony naming the university theatre in his honor.  The Ronald E. Barnes Theatre will be dedicated on January 11, 2004, at 1:00 p.m., in the CSUSB Performing Arts Center.  Former students, colleagues and theatre patrons are invited to the naming celebration.
