A
2,500-year-old mummy coffin lid is the latest addition to CSUSB’s world-class
Egyptian antiquities collection. Neter Heneb’s coffin lid, which is about six
feet tall and extensively decorated and inscribed, will go on exhibit Feb. 17 in
the Robert V. Fullerton Art Museum. Viewing and reception: 4-7 p.m.

Association sponsors return of highly acclaimed musical
“Ethel,” the critically acclaimed one-person play
celebrating the life of legendary actress and blues singer Ethel Waters, will
return to CSUSB Feb. 25 and 26 at 8 p.m., in the Barnes Theatre. Val Limar-Jansen
(B.A. theatre arts 1990) will reprise her role in this remarkable musical
performance. Proceeds will benefit the Ronald E. Barnes Scholarship Endowment,
which provides scholarships for Theatre Arts students. Tickets are $50 and
include a reception following the performance. To reserve tickets, contact

Supreme Court Justice speaks at Palm Desert Campus dedication
“An enlightened citizenry is a precondition for democracy.
That’s why this school completes this community,” said U.S. Supreme Court
Justice Anthony M. Kennedy at a dedication of the Annenberg Wing of the new
Indian Wells Center for Educational Excellence at the Palm Desert Campus. The
wing houses the campus’ teacher education programs, which will help train future
generations of educators in the valley.

Admissions
open for spring and fall ’05 quarters
Students wanting to enroll at Cal State SB for the upcoming
spring term have about a month to submit their applications. The campus is
accepting applications through March 15 from first-time freshmen, lower division
transfer students, and credential and graduate students. CSUSB also is
accepting applications from all categories of students for fall 2005. Students
are encouraged to apply online at
www.csumentor.edu.

Coyotes
on the hunt for sixth consecutive conference title
The Coyote men’s
basketball team, ranked No. 6 in the West Region, is looking to hang onto their
top spot in the California Collegiate Athletic Association and clinch a sixth
straight conference championship—a first in CCAA history. The Coyotes, who
share the No. 1 conference ranking with Cal Poly Pomona at 11-3, face UC San
Diego tonight in Coussoulis Arena. Tip off is at 7:30 p.m. The Coyotes’ next
and final home games of the season are on Feb. 25 and 26.

Charles
and Shelby Obershaw Dining Hall dedicated
Chuck and Shelby Obershaw, longtime friends of CSUSB, were
honored for their generosity to the university with the naming of the campus
dining commons after the couple. The Charles and Shelby Obershaw Dining Hall
recognizes the Obershaws’ contributions over the years of approximately $1
million to student scholarships and other activities at the university.

of BPA and Business Alliance sponsor Inland Empire Goods Movement Conference
How can the Inland Empire plan for the additional movement
of goods without a head-on collision against our quality of life? Participate
in finding the solutions at a three-session conference on March 18, May 6 and

Shawn
Garus '95
Shawn Garus, B.A.
marketing 1995, is the head women's volleyball coach at University of North
Carolina-Greensboro, an NCAA Div. I school. Shawn played professional
volleyball from 1994-2003, participating in several AVP events (Association
of Volleyball Professionals) and has served as the top assistant coach on
the staff at the University of San Francisco for the last two years. Shawn played club volleyball at CSUSB
from 1991 to 1994.
Shawn is
married to Cindy Bench, B.A. management 1995, a four-time all-CCAA volleyball player
for CSUSB from 1991-94. |
