CSUSB
selected to host NCAA West Region tournament
The
NCAA Division II Championships Committee Sunday night named Cal State San
Bernardino as the host site for the 2004 Men’s Basketball West Region
tournament.
The
tournament will be held in Coussoulis Arena at the CSUSB campus on Friday,
Saturday and Monday, March 12, 13 and 15. The
No. 1 seed Coyotes (25-2) will play California Collegiate Athletic
Association foe Chico State (17-10), the No. 8 seed, at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
The
Coyotes, CCAA champions for the fifth straight year, will be making their sixth
consecutive appearance in the West Regionals.
They won the West Region championship in 2002 and 1999 and reached the
title game for the past three years in a row.
Playing
at home could prove to be a big advantage for the Coyotes, who have 32
back-to-back wins in Coussoulis Arena, the longest home-game winning
streak in the nation. Cal
State has a 65-3 record at home over the past five years.
Its last loss was to Bakersfield on Feb. 1, 2002...read
