Coyote Men’s, Women’s teams advance to NCAA basketball regionals
For the first time since Cal State San Bernardino moved up to NCAA Division II, its men’s and women’s basketball teams are both heading to the NCAA championship tournament in the same season.

  • The CSUSB men, 22-5 overall and 18-4 in the CCAA, are seeded No. 2 behind No. 1 seed and CCAA champion Humboldt State (24-3, 19-3) in the West Regional that will take place at Humboldt State, starting Friday.  This is the eighth NCAA tournament appearance in the last nine years for the Coyotes who missed out in 2006 after seven straight appearances that included two regional titles (1999 and 2002).

  • The CSUSB women’s team (17-10 overall and 13-9 in the CCAA) advances to the NCAA tournament for the first time since 1998 and are seeded No. 7 in the West Regional that will be hosted by CCAA champion and No. 1 seed UC San Diego (24-3). The last appearance by the team in the tournament was in 1998 when they advanced to regional semifinals.

Here are the pairings for the two West Regional tournaments:

The men’s games at Humboldt State will be broadcast live on KTIE 590-AM and webcast live on the Coyote athletics website: http://athletics.csusb.edu. Friday’s game is at 2:30 p.m., Saturday semifinal No. 1 is at 5 p.m and title game on Monday is at 7 p.m.
