Cal
State San Bernardino is one of the leaders among California public universities
and other comparable universities nationwide for first-year students who return
to their college for a second year, according to a study released in December by
the California Postsecondary Education Commission.
CSUSB had the highest
persistence rate"in the 23-campus CSU system for African American students at 80
percent and also ranked third highest for Latino students with an 83 percent
persistent rate.

San Bernardino's OTTC provides $485,000 in grants to support biometrics and
robotics
Sensors that can sniff out bombs, a compact 3-D imaging radar system and a
method of identifying people using blood vessels were among the projects from
seven technology companies that received $485,000 in grants from the Office of
Technology Transfer and Commercialization at Cal State San Bernardino.

California State University announces the availability of more than $350,000 in
scholarships for the 2007-2008 academic year
Through the CSU Office of the Chancellor, there is more than $350,000 in funds
accessible to students who will be attending the university's 23 campuses,
including Cal State San Bernardino. Students must submit
their scholarship applications to their campus financial aid offices.

Stater Bros. chief to receive 2007 Cal State San Bernardino Arrowhead Award
Donald I. Baker, the recently retired Stater Bros. Markets president and chief
operating officer, will be honored as California State University, San
Bernardino's 2007 Arrowhead Distinguished Executive Officer. The university's
College of Business and Public Administration bestows the award to executives

Remembering two 'Forgotten Masters' of art
Two forgotten masters of the 20th century, whose art is drawn from private West
Coast collections, will be featured in a new exhibition at the Robert V.
Fullerton Art Museum at Cal State San Bernardino, Jan. 20 through March 14. An
opening reception for the exhibit is scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 20, from 5-7
p.m.

The CSUSB Alumni Association
is seeking its next Alumni Scholar! The Association will offer a $12,000
four-year scholarship to a graduating high school senior from the Inland Empire
who will be attending CSUSB in the Fall 2007 quarter and who demonstrates
outstanding achievement, leadership and community service. Applications are due
no later than March 2, 2007.

In moving up to the No. 12 ranking in the nation among NCAA Division II teams,
Cal State San Bernardino – winners of 10 straight games – are seeing the
bullseye on their back growing with every victory. This weekend at UC San Diego
and Cal State Dominguez Hills will again test the Coyotes’ mettle, because
playing back-to-back games on the road against CCAA foes a risky business.

Athletics to host “Break the
Record” night, Jan. 27
Coyote Athletics is promoting the January 27 men’s and
women’s basketball games versus Cal State Bakersfield as “Break the Record”
night, hoping to beat the current mark of 4,197 set in 2002. The night will
feature exciting CCAA basketball, and will include prize drawings, giveaways,
and more. Women play at 5:30 p.m., men tip off at 7:30 p.m. – come out
and help us make history!

(B.A. art 1997) will be
the first former student featured in a series of 10 individual CSUSB art
alumni exhibitions, entitled “Art Alumni in the Spotlight.” April’s show,
“Self-Created Chameleon on the Hot Seat,” will feature drawings and media
art. The
show opens
on January 20 in the Robert V. Fullerton Art Museum.
